Windows 10 Is Here

Windows 10 is finally here. If you are one of the first to try to download and install the new operating system, you know that the update has had a rocky start launch. With any new release there are going to be rough patches. Some of the more troublesome issues we are seeing here locally is reports of Windows 10 Activation issues. Users are updating to the new operating system only to find out that they have a pirated version of Windows.
Microsoft has an excellent article explaining why some users cannot activate Windows 10, but we will go over some of the basics.
A repair shop may have used a different key to activate your Windows
If you have brought your computer to a repair shop, they may have used a different key or windows version that came with your computer. If you still have the original key to your computer you can re-enter that key into your computer to get the update.
Error Code 0xC004C008
If you received this error code, your a more than likely a victim of software piracy. Error 0xC004C008 means that your computer has been activated with a license that has been reused and shared with numerous computers. You will need to purchase a valid license key.
Counterfeit Software
Another reason you may not be able to activate your copy of Windows 10 may be from using counterfeit software. Counterfeit software is software not licensed by Microsoft and is usually patched to hide activation notices. You will need to purchase a valid license key.
Used Computers
A lot of local people and shops sell used computers. They are not always trustworthy and sell used computers as “upgraded” with unlicensed software or reused keys. They sell the unlicensed software to generate more profit for themselves. The unsuspecting customer is the one who suffers in the end.
